On a mission to build an outdoor sanctuary so his driver, Frank, can continue to achieve his weight-loss and health goals, actor-athlete Terry Crews put his blockbuster-sized heart on the line in this episode of Celebrity IOU. Terry’s family immediately bonded with Frank. “This is the kind of guy that I want in my circle forever,” said Terry. “He’s like an older brother to me and like another father figure to my kids. This man is on a fitness journey having already lost 200 pounds, and he’s not done. We need to give him an area where he can get fit and feel better.” With Terry's help, Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott designed a one-of-a-kind outdoor oasis for Frank and his family.

Frank’s backyard is unusually spacious for his California suburb. Before the reno, the family enjoyed using the space for grilling, relaxing and spending time with their dogs — but it wasn't quite ready for hosting and entertaining. Furthermore, the hot tub and pool needed to be repaired, and the environment itself was ready for an overhaul to suit the family’s active lifestyle.

Rather than tear out the old concrete around the pool, Drew and Jonathan created rectangular slabs with the existing material. Then, for a sleek look, they filled the gaps with artificial turf. Additional concrete slabs accommodate added seating and athletic equipment, which the bros installed under covered pergolas.

A poolside oasis isn't complete without luxe seating for lounging and sunbathing. Situated beneath scalloped canopy umbrellas, a row of chaise lounge chairs with matching side tables faces the pool. The white cushion fabric is stain resistant and made to take on the heat of the California sunshine. Around the perimeter of the backyard, new landscaping increases privacy.
