Here's What You'll See on 'Good Bones' Season Three
Bigger projects, bigger family news and more Tad! Can't wait for Karen and Mina to return to the screen on April 10? Tide yourself over with some sneak peeks of what's to come.
Two Chicks and a Hammer — AKA mother-daughter dream team Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak Hawk — are taking another swing at underappreciated Indianapolis homes in a new season of Good Bones, which kicks off Tuesday, April 10, at 9|8c.
As always, Karen and Mina are focused on renovations that inspire buyers to put down roots in the neighborhoods they themselves love: “We just feel honored to make our city the best it can be,” Karen says.
That being said, there are still a few surprises in store for this third season go-round. Keep your eyes peeled for...
...Mina Getting the Hang of Pregnancy
Four or five reveals into the third season, Mina and her husband, Steve, had a special production of their own to announce: They’re expecting their first child this summer! Telling herself to slow down wasn’t always easy for Mina, who had to be reminded to take a load off every now and then.
“I definitely had to be actively mindful about [the pregnancy] for a while because when you’re not showing yet — for me, at least — it was easy to forget and just go about my day ... except when I started feeling like death!” she said.
Mina said her family news has given her work in Indy a new level of significance.
“Now that I’m going to be a mom, I feel like our mission is even more important,” she said. “We’re improving Indianapolis now for our neighbors, but also for future generations who will call this city home.”
Call us sentimental, but the idea of Mina’s little one growing up and calling one of his or her mom’s projects home gets us a little misty.
...Mina and Steve’s Forever-Home Special
Shortly before breaking their baby news, Mina and Steve broke ground on what will be their family home. If you’re dying to see how the new (and much, much larger) space turns out, you’re not alone — and you won’t be disappointed. Good Bones will devote a whole episode to revealing Hawk HQ, and Mina will be documenting the process exclusively on HGTV's Instagram account right up until the arrival of Baby Hawk later this summer.
...Characteristically Clever Design
Karen and Mina dreamed up this space-saving work area to attract a very specific buyer: They’re hoping it’ll help Mina’s friend Adrianne realize their renovation project is the home for her.
...Details That Make All the Difference
Sure, big changes are what sell houses—but thoughtful details help prospective buyers picture them as homes. Feel free to DVR and rewind this season as necessary to catch all of the goodies Karen and Mina load into their projects. Like...
...A Spray-Foam Scarecrow?
You do you, Tad. You do you. Speaking of, we’d like to announce...
...Tad’s Unofficial Internship
Viewers will see more of Mina’s brother throughout the season, as he’s now an assistant project manager for the family business — and learning to pitch in on the stages of renovation that follow his work as a Demo Dude.
...Excellent Artwork
Karen and Mina have a knack for embellishing their interiors with one-of-a-kind pieces, and Season Three’s homes are no exception. Get ready to start hankering for a new gallery wall in your space.
...A Poo-Covered Door?
Karen and Mina rehabbed a home in which squatters had — true to their name — squatted.
“[At one] house, even though I doubt it’ll make the cut, Tad chased me around with a poo-covered door,” Mina said. “It was tragic and terrifying.”
Brother Interns: The worst.
