Create Forever Homes With Dave and Jenny
Dave and Jenny Marrs love small-town America, particularly their hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas. The husband-and-wife team brings historic homes into the present with incredible renovations that are full of character. We’ve pulled together Dave and Jenny's best Fixer to Fabulous designs. The Marrs’ coolest kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces lie ahead.
Step outside the “typical” box with colorful and unexpected ideas. Jenny was given full creative control over this home remodel, and she transformed the dated space with a fresh design. Keeping the fireplace wall as the focal point of the living room, she painted it a soothing blue-gray. A custom-built, black-walnut mantel and firebox bring in refined architectural detail.
Though it’s low on square footage, this living room’s vaulted ceiling helps it live large. To capitalize on the soaring ceiling, Dave and Jenny installed large beams that run the length of the room and placed cedar planks in a chevron pattern between them. The result is a warm, character-filled space that feels bigger than it is. The room’s neutral color palette allows the homeowners’ prized souvenirs from their world travels to take center stage.
Dave and Jenny injected new life into a languishing midcentury modern lake house by uncovering original tongue-and-groove pine floors and crafting a bold focal point around a new electric fireplace. “Midcentury design can be simplistic, but there can be ‘moments,’” says Jenny of the statement-making fireplace surround of stacked black matte tile. The team polished up the existing cedar crown molding and added sleek, style-appropriate furnishings for a living room that invites relaxation after a day on the water.
