For the third season of Battle on the Beach, Rock the Block host Ty Pennington mentored business partners Ashely and Steve. Based out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the home renovators have worked on dozens of projects, including flips and fresh builds. Ashley, a carpenter, recently teamed up with Steve (who's been in the business for more than 20 years) after he helped her build her first home. Together, they know that they can take on any project.

Ashley and Steve went up against two other teams: Kelsey and Ryan, a husband-and-wife duo mentored by Build It Forward host Taniya Nayak, and Pete and Ben, business partners led by Windy City Rehab host Alison Victoria. Each team had six weeks and $90,000 to transform a rundown beach house into a getaway-worthy abode. And, for the first time ever, the houses weren’t identical, so the hosts played a game for picking order. Team Ty took home the win, and they selected the house with the most square footage.

Because Ashley and Steve were able to choose their home first, they had the most flexibility when it came to renovating the kitchen. Knowing how much potential a cook space has to add value to a home — which Ty reiterated — the design duo decided to bring theirs forward to the front of the house. “This will open things up and give it a more functional layout while offering more space in the back of the house for a future project,” Ashley said.

Ashley and Steve's renovated beachside kitchen feels warm and inviting thanks to natural cabinet finishes, open shelving, a stone backsplash, a retro-inspired fridge and an intricately detailed island to bring it all together.
